Brake pipe replacement

Would like to put my two pence worth regarding braided hoses.
Firstly I had these on my SR cob and still have them in one of my junk boxes, I kept them so as to use as
pattern or for some other obscure use .
The reason that I replaced them with rubber flexi's  was due to fact that the mot inspector that I used a
good few years ago now mentioned that the clear rubber sleeving on one of the ends was slightly frayed
although not registered as a fail .
What he did say was if they were still in place on the next mot he would issue a fail .
At this point I did question this due to the fact the clear sleeving around the stainless flexi's was purely
cosmetic and no leaks were present .
His answer was that he didn't particularly like stainless flexi's due to the fact you can't tell what state
they are in, unlike the rubber ones when they start to delaminate, he was quite correct and I didn't want to
enter an argument with tester as he hadn't issued my cob with a fail .
The rubber flexi's were always on the mot hit list back in the day, although they were correct in failing hoses for delamination some stations were stricter than others on this and would add that the outer layer was not that important,
the other six layers were !
What I will probably do now is use my old braided brake hoses as a patten for a new set as I prefer them to the
rubber ones, nothing wrong with them and the best thing is that can safely clamp them off if need be, unlike the
steel ones .Hopefully the current mot station that I use won't be prejudiced against them this time .
The original mot station that I used were generally as good as gold but one guy just use to have a few strange
views ?

CBS do the braided pipe and fittings separately so you could make your own to custom length?

Hi Alistair, I used Hel Performance to make my braided hoses for my XCS 427. Custom lengths with the required unions/fittings.

Good morning all,

I want replace my old rubber flexible brake pipes for some nice braided pipes.

It's A Granada based car with disks all round.

Is there anywhere that makes the lengths  etc I need or is it just a question of ordering a set online and throwing away the ones I don't need.
