Fog light IVA questions

I believe they are just alternatives.
I've wired mine as per the regulations.

Hi all, I have a question regard fog light regs.


So in section 28-4 of the IVA regs the rear fog light can only be switched on when the main or dipped beam lights are on. 

I'm fine with that section


But it states there are alternatives see notes 3 and 4.

Do you have to conform to these as well or are they really just alternatives?
