Has anyone ever had a fuse blow when they turned the indicator on or had the wipers sweep across the screen without even touching the controls on BMW E30 column switches. I have not had chance to take the steering column shroud apart to inspect the contacts yet ,but I'm wondering if because the contacts are open to the environment ,because there is no gaiter dust cover on mine, if the Dielectric grease on the contacts has become contaminated with dust and causing shorts inside the switch contacts .

Has anyone ever known this to happen on the BMW E 30 wiper/indicator controls or know where I can source suitable dust gaiters ?
