Nearing paint, trim and IVA
May IVA first has being quoted 6 to 12 month waiting list for paint
Started build before XCS released video manuals
Still waiting last of parts parts (offside vent) after 18 months
Have 2x nearside vents as supplied but this does not help waiting for this to be corrected since before Christmas.
Contact with XCS difficult
Talked to Harvey Rice in early March
Nice workshop but lack of staff!

Hi Mark, I used a DAX manual which covered the majority with a few differences. XCS had not done any videos when I was building mine.

It really helped with the order and had a lot of the important info.

Yep - hoping to go pearlescent white with black stripes. I like the idea of a more contemporary looking Cobra, so all of the bright work will be powder coated along with exhaust and the black XCS alloys.

I've just purchased a full XCS kit (square chassis + CCA option), Chevrolet LS3, Tremec gearbox etc.
Hoping to get my hands on it in the next month or so - really looking forward to the build.

As for doing anything differently. That is a tough one, part of the joy I get with the self build is the learning which means you get things wrong and have to re-do, or do differently, which I did plenty of times, even now, I am working on a list of improvements, which I hope will make it even better.

Not necessarily advice, but part of my thought process was to consider what I wanted to build and what was important to me. I love the shape of the Cobra, however wanted something that looked a bit more contemporary and when researching I found that the XCS offered me more of what I was looking for. So, do what you makes you happy and what is right for you.

During the build I did get a visit from Paul Cowland who created the below video, which hopefully will provide some more information and also see the car in mid-build.

Hello All, I am an owner of a self build XCS 427 (square tube) I completed my build in 2023 and passed IVA in May 2023 and now have it on the road (when the sun comes out again).

Happy to share my experience and answer any questions you may have.
