Warm up the fabric as much as possible so it can be stretched to avoid wrinkles.
Start from the centre at the back. The Pilgrim Sumo build manual has a good set of instructions, see p.76:

 -  other makes involve an extra hoop in the frame, but principal is the same.

You'll probably need a suitable punch for the fixings

Can you up load a couple of photos, which would give us a better idea of your problem.
I'm not 100% sure if there is a right or wrong way to fit a soft top.

Either start at the front then pull the hood to the back and pop onto the Tenex studs, or fit the back first then stretch the front over the hood bows to the screen.

I fit mine at the back and side first, then place hood bows over the screen and clip the side clips from the hood bows into the screen pull down catches, then secure the internal hood bow to the fabric with the Velcro flaps.

Any advice on fitting soft top, mine came with the car and as the weather is so brilliant thought i would fit it.
can't get it to fit clips arround windscreen ok, studs clip in one side but not the other.
Is there a set order to fit it?. Don't think it has been used much seems brand new.
