About John

A retired Railway Signaling Engineer from Tarbolton, Ayrshire.

I joined the Cobra Club in 1995 after attending the kit car shows every year at Stoneleigh and meeting many cobra club folks for barbeques in the old sheds there.

I originally bought a Cheetah Cobra with Jag rear and Cortina crossmember up front with a P6 Rover V8 in it in Haddington during the nineties. Loved it but spent more time tinkering with it than running it.
I then purchased a Southern Roadcraft chassis only in 1998 which sat in a railway shed for a number of years while I accumulated parts for my build. Eventually putting car through the IVA in 2007.

I took over the role of Scotland rep for the club in 2023 with the intention of getting a cobra scene going in Scotland once more and hopefully pass the reigns over to a more eager enthusiast.

Scotland is such a large geographical area that we cant really do local meets to suit everyone. with me being south west Scotland based runs to coffee meets and occassional call outs to meet at Stirling is a good way to get us together.

I love the engineering element and challenge of our cars and try to help owners with advice and technical knowledge to keep our cars out there on the road. I like "Old Skool Engineering".
