Hi Dave,

So I would recommend pulling the engine and converting to a single lip seal. Time consuming but long term the best by far. Two piece seals will always give you pain.

If you have the time or fancy another project pull the engine and strip in back to a bear BLK.

I used a machine shop in Northampton run by Simon, Mark & Mandy called automotive services and sourced a Mahale single lip seal from Real Steel.

If you decide to go this way you can find these places on Google. If not let me know if you want to and I could find you the link.

I have had an oil leak from the rear of my 350 Chevvy engine and after changing the sump seal twice I replaced the sump, gasket and rear seal to no avail, in fact its worse now than before  I used a standard Felpro two part seal but did have some concerns as I inserted it and pushed the top half round the crank, it didn't seem to give much resistance which surprised me. I offset the joint from the block faces and applied silicone in the correct corners etc.  There was no visible wear to the crank surface so I didn't use an offset seal.
I know rear seals can be an issue, does anyone have any advice or recommendations on a different seal manufacturer or material etc that I can try this coming winter.
Many thanks
Dave
