Cooling after Key off

I think that may be the problem. I seem to remember when the fan arrived from AK it had a label that said push on it. I was told it was reversible.. The thing is it was that long ago I can't remember how you reversed it. looks like I'll have to do some experimenting...

Your fan must not be pulling the temperature down quick enough. I would check the fan is a puller on the inside and has the blades set correctly if its a dual fan direction. I have seen people run around with the fan blades fitted incorrectly and the system seems to work but not great. Is the sensor in the top hose or a thermostat in the radiator?

First check with a piece of A4 paper that the fan is sucking and the paper is very difficult to be removed from the face of the radiator.

It's thermostatically controlled which is adjustable. It comes on at about 95 deg and goes off about 85 deg. The last time I went for a run as I pulled onto the drive the fan came on at about 95 deg. I turned the ignition off the fan stayed on but the temp carried on rising to 105 deg. Then after about 20 mins the fan cut out at around 85 deg.

Make sure you don't have an inline timer. I was looking to install one which works the other way round . E.G. it's wired to the ignition but will supply power after switch off for a timed period which you can set.
So your trigger might be ignition off which then starts the timer and supplies power for a set period still. It would do it exactly the same period unless your monitoring the temperature thermostat.

What does not add up that it runs for 20mins which makes me think its only on a basic timer circuit. An efficient system would only run max 5 mins to get it back to the 83-85c operating temp.

I have mine wired direct to the battery and not via an ignition switched relay so mine will stay on after engine shut off.
What temperature do you have the fan cut off?
My fan will only run for about 2 mins max and cut off. As the temperature builds up again it might then kick in for another 30 seconds. My fan system and radiator are very efficient. The fan cut off temp is about 85c and cut in about 93c. My system hold 3 1/2 gallons of water!   

Yeah mine is wired the same way and works fine with the engine running. But when you turn the ignition off the fan is taking a long time to cool the engine down because there is no water circulation. I have the standard AK setup.

Has anyone fitted an auxiliary electric water pump to help with cooling after key off??
I've noticed my fan stays on for a long time after I key off in hot conditions. Up to 20 mins or so.
Obviously the radiator isn't doing anything with the engine off, so your just relying on the fan blowing air over the engine it to cool it down.
For example the other day I keyed off and the temp actually started climbing with the fan running..
Also having your fan running for 20 mins with the car off isn't ideal for your battery.
Anyone else had similar thoughts issues??
