AK soft top keeps tearing , alternate securing method needed .

I have managed to get hold of a small piece of  Mohair fabric from a local Soft Top specialist, which is stronger than the rubber membrane i previously  used , and will be using some 3M 08008 Black Super Weatherstrip Adhesive, which i know from experience adheres really well to Double Duck and Mohair  ,to strengthen  the whole area as neatly as i can.

Perhaps not the answer you want, but black duck tape is immensely strong and easy to apply. And cheap.

The soft top on my AK keeps tearing in the middle at the front in between the 2 metal bows. This happens because of the way the roof bows are secured to the top of the windscreen frame.  As anyone  with an AK Cobra will know, a lot of tugging back and forth is needed to locate the pegs into the slot built into the top of the windscreen frame, which damages the fabric. I successfully repaired the tear a few years ago, but tugging it back and forth has wrecked it again!

Has anyone devised a better way of attaching the roof bows to the top of the windscreen frame, which just allows the bows to drop down onto the frame, without any tugging and then be locked into position?
