Christmas Shopping

I have ended up with a similar dilemma. I have been asked for a wish list but I end up buying things off the list
myself! Especially where tools or power tools are concerned! I could not resist a bargain on Black Friday so my list has got smaller.

There's a danger to Christmas Shopping and that's noticing something you'd like for yourself while shopping for others. Why a danger? First of all, you may have a budget for Christmas Shopping and buying stuff for yourself might put you over-budget. Second, you might purchase something for yourself that someone else has also bought you for Christmas. If they find out, the surprise is spoiled, and if not, you still have more than one, which may not be a good thing.

Many years ago, I only shopped locally and living in a rural area this limited my choices for presents. Then along came the internet and with it Amazon and E-Bay. I prefer to shop locally, but when you get a present idea for someone, the internet is often your best bet to find it.

Sadly, my Christmas Shopping is getting easier as so many members of my family have passed on, but buying for the grandchildren is still fun (especially as it's for 3 boys). I never buy them what they ask for (they have parents for that)... I buy them what I think they'd like and/or what I'd like if I were them.

OK, enough palaver. The point is based on the old adage, "the heart shall not covet what the eye doth not see". So if I wern't shopping, I wouldn't see things I'd like, which is all too easy when shopping on the net.

You can see where this is leading.... yes, I bought myself a present. So if your friends and family insist you're difficult to buy for, resist the urge to buy yourself a Christmas present and just let them know what it is. They may be like me and prefer to give you something they thought of by themselves, or you just might find a nice sweatshirt under the tree.
