Hi Don, thanks for the reply. The tyres (Continental Contisportcontact) are also 8 yrs old but show no sign of degradation and little wear ( I haven't driven the car too much in recent years due to various health issues). I'm in Newbury, Berkshire. I think I'll take the car to my local tyre centre to have the valves replaced and ask them to check the tyres at the same time.
Cheers Mike

Hi,
I talked to a guy at a tyre depot a few years ago and he told me that can't store tyres that are more than 7 years old. So maybe the same goes for valves because of the rubber ageing. How old are the tyres? We've had our car for 20 years now and never seem to wear out the tyres, they just seem to loose their flexibility. Therefore they've been chnaged about every 6 or 7 years or so and new valves get fitted at the same time. Maybe your local tyre dealer will fit some new valves for you. Where  in the UK are you located?
Regards, Don

Hi all, I took my AK Cobra out for a run today and noticed all 4 tyre valves are cracking. They are around 8 years old from when I finished the build so haven't done too badly I guess. Any comments on this or recommended replacements? Many thanks
