Fuel tank sender

I used a 180mm tube. I Dont recall the resistance range but I have a programmable fuel gauge so it didn't matter.
My vdo unit has 5 fixing holes so it was a challenge to drill and tap against the 6 hole flange but it can be done.

I have found a 6 hole to 5 hole adapter plate, but it all depends on the size of your current tank opening,  mine was cut out very roughly and not very accurately, Def not very round. It  would have been better if it had been cut out with a hole saw to produce a nice round hole. You can buy an adaptor plate online, Either Serck Motor sports, or Demon Performance. Some are even on ebay, but A bit pricey, I will make an adaptor plate. Or weld a new blank flange to my tank, then drill and tap the 5 hole pattern.  It does mean dropping the tank out and filling it with water before welding it for safety. Then buy a dip tube, loads of marine diesel / Petrol tank ones for les than £20  180mmm length seems to be about right for standard AK tank 10ohms to 180ohms  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395908319591

Anyone fitted a VDO dip tube type sender in there AK fuel tank, rather than the smiths type lever arm type.                6 bolt flange.

If so what length dip tube did you use, and what Ohm setting VDO dip tube did you go with.

The standard Smiths sender is 10ohms to 180ohms  TBA 9010-000

I can run a VDO dip tube via my gauge wizard MK4 which should be ok to a smiths gauge.
