Thanks Mark.

As for doing anything differently. That is a tough one, part of the joy I get with the self build is the learning which means you get things wrong and have to re-do, or do differently, which I did plenty of times, even now, I am working on a list of improvements, which I hope will make it even better.

Not necessarily advice, but part of my thought process was to consider what I wanted to build and what was important to me. I love the shape of the Cobra, however wanted something that looked a bit more contemporary and when researching I found that the XCS offered me more of what I was looking for. So, do what you makes you happy and what is right for you.

During the build I did get a visit from Paul Cowland who created the below video, which hopefully will provide some more information and also see the car in mid-build.

Hello All, I am an owner of a self build XCS 427 (square tube) I completed my build in 2023 and passed IVA in May 2023 and now have it on the road (when the sun comes out again).

Happy to share my experience and answer any questions you may have.

Once I work out how to share a picture I will post one.

Thanks John
Hi John.

Your car looks awesome 🤩

Being one of the very first XCS 427 self builders, is there anything you'd do differently and any advice for someone looking to buy a 427 kit?

Cheers
Mark

Good looking machine that mate!!

Glad that XCS have a section here also. Great product with hopefully many many years of good business to come. A contender for me 100% if i was to build again.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I received their recent price list.
I'd be going for the square tube chassis.
Next step for me is I'd like to read the build manual, visit the factory and drive their demonstrator.
I'm on holiday for the big kit car show, but I'm hoping to attend their open day even though I'm coming down from Edinburgh, hopefully it'll be worth the drive.

When you come to do your price list you have two options. The XCS round chassis is very different from the XCS DeDeion square chassis big price differance.

The square chassis you will need to add on the front and rear square suspension sections plus rear beam.
If you have there price package list its a lot easier and worth taking a visit to the factory if you go down that route.
I went to there open day 2021 and was impressed with there set up. They have one coming up soon Sun Jun 11, 2023.

They are in the high end of the market for a completed car placed in with a Crendon, Hawk , GD or DB427 ali turnkey. Ak chassis Gen 4 would be worth looking at if you would like more modern styling less authentic.

I am looking at an XCS kit. my first choice budget permitting.

I am going through the options and costs at the kit car show in a couple of weeks so will make a decision then, but like you anyone out there with any advice or info would be great.

Good to see this section has been added to the forum.

Personally I find the XCS 427 really appealing, so I plan to visit the factory this summer for a closer look and test drive.
I'm looking at the self build option, hopefully any owners on here will be able to share the build experience with others.

Cheers
Mark
