I have a TREMEC T5 Manual transmission, and:
1. Have a minor oil leak which was going to leave alone, then thought would try one of the "Stop leak" transmission additives. Has anyone any recommendation, and will they do more harm than good. Will it make matters worse?
2. If that doesnt help (Or even if it does) rather then top the gearbox up with any old stuff (As i dont know whats in there atm) was gonna drain and refill with TREMEC HP MTF as recommended by Tremec. Is that what members would recommend?
Lastly, I may well oil service my 350ci small block chevvy myself, and whilst it seems a minefield to discuss, what do members with same engine recommend as engine oil for their Chevvy?
The vendors of the vehicle seem to detail they used 5w 50 Motorsport engine oil?
Would be very useful to have a "sticky" on fluids to use on various type engines :-)

^^ this is what I've noted down when I come to do mine.
If you have an oil leak, you are better off fixing it correctly in the first place.
It might be a pain to deal with, but it will give you peace of mind long term if your keeping the car.
Even if you cant do the job your self, get someone that knows what they are doing to sort it out for.
It is never worth the risk of putting a leak sealing additive in, it will cause more problems than it solves in the long term. Unless your just trying to bodge it / hide it, so that a buyer doesn't spot it.
There is no right our wrong with regards to the fluids you use.
Most of it is personnel choice or cost.
Just try and stay away from the very cheap un branded stuff.
Same with filters, us a good make.

Engine LS3 6.2
Mobile 1 fully synthetic 5w 30W
Tremec TKO 600 5 speed
Gearbox oil, Due to various synchronizer materials used in TREMEC transmission, and different climates and applications, no one single fluid will work for all transmissions. We recommend GM synchromesh part # 12345349, or Dexron lll / Mercon Spec ATF fluid for all TKO transmissions. The transmission should be filled through the fill plug located on the passenger side of the transmission. Proper fill level is achieved when oil reaches the fill plughole when level (approximately 5.28 pints)
XJ40 diff with a Black line, Power lock diff
Castrol, syntrax long life 75w 140w
You can also add Liquid Moly to your gearbox and diff or engine depending on make etc.
but check first.
Brake and clutch fluid.
Just use a good DOT 4 and above.
I would never use any kind of leak sealer, short term fix if even works.

In relation to engine oil, OPIE recommends a decent 5w 30, what is in there at the moment is basic 5w 50 (Came with car) and now Ive received another suggestion from Brian at Roadcraft, supplier of all things Chevvy and Tremec etc etc
He suggests a mineral oil, Joe Gibbs HR5 Driven racing motor oil 10w 40. Better for engine when not in use over winter, although not knowing the exact spec of my engine, couldnt be totally definitive on his recommendation.
So much advice, and differing alternatives, its a wonder what to do
Certainly dont think leaving a heavy oil in for over winter is a great idea, so will change to something a bit lighter. Most recommendations plump for a quality 5w 30?
