Title: Daytona side windows.
Post by: Dek on May 30, 2024, 06:16 PM
As there is neither a Daytona or Shell Valley section I'm posting here. Apologies Tony!
Thoughts and advice please. My SV Daytona has no side screens fitted. I think they were available originally as an extra but no longer. It does get quite warm in the cockpit so didn't bother me initially and saw it as a bonus. However, having been to a few shows where it's rained I've returned to find the seats soaked. Because there are obviously no roof rain channels the water just rolls off into the cockpit. That set me thinking to make some polycarbonate side screens that I could temporarily fit at shows. Then the thoughts went one stage further. The last show I attended (Silverstone Classic) it rained travelling there and we both got quite wet due to the rain rolling off the roof and through the "windowless" aperture. Initially I was thinking of using some sort of Velcro to hold the polycarbonate in place when static but now I'm thinking of going one step further to provide protection when on the move. The problem is the driver's screen would need to be fitted once seated in the car. So that would require something like a sliding screen to put my hand through to fix the screen in place once inside. Does this sound feasible or just a hairbrained idea? Thoughts and alternative suggestions please. Thanks.

No I really don't want to take a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Will you be using an electric compressor?
