Hi,
My Dax needs new tires and I now want to go to larger sizes: 275/60R15 at the rear and 245/60R15 at the front.
Has anyone tried this before? I'm particularly unsure about the front tires.
Thanks,
Gideon
I recommend you go for Galaxies - great tyre, great price (esp compared to Avons).
They do a 15" V-rated 275/60 and a 235/60. You might find 245s make the steering very heavy, although that is the size on original cars.
I have 235/60 on front axel on my car (and 255/60 on rear).
You can decide for yourself if you like the look.....

Thanks, I now have the dimensions you mention. I wanted to go a little wider.
I have power steering so I don't worry about that...😜
I wanted to try the Vitour Galaxy R1, do you mean this one?
I have 235/60 15 Rear and Front 215/60 15 Galaxy from North Hants Tyres . Fitted 2018 and very happy with them.

I could of fitted 245/60 15 with clearance and possibly bigger. Did not want to change the gearing as I have 2.88 diff and having to recal. I don't have PAS and also the lock to lock might start to interfere at full lock.

Exactly. North Hants tyres usually have the best prices.
They are great tyres, the only downside is that they are only available in a /60 profile, so your rear wheel will be slightly taller than the front one, but its barely noticeable. That and its a modern tread pattern unlike the old-style tread pattern on the Avons. But at a 1/4 of the price it was a no-brainer for me.

Hi Jon, I can confirm no probs on 235s front and 255s rear on a Crendon, but my speedo was then a bit out ;) ....all compensatable/fixable.
Hi Kevin,
The sizes are on my Dax as Gideon was asking in the original post . I have 16 inch on the Crendon as per Anthony(J.K.) spec. I have seen 315 rears on a RAM once . Look huge!

Hi Jon,
Just to be sure: do you have 245/60R15 at the front and 275/60R15 at the rear on your Dax?
I thought I read in your earlier post that you had 215 and 235...
Thanks!

Can't speak for Jon but those are the sizes I have on mine (DeDion) :)
Gideon,
What Dax chassis do you have?
My Dax has a standard ladder chassis and I run 235/60 15 Rear and Front 215/60 15 Galaxy.
The Dax De-Dion chassis usually run 17 and 18 inch wheels as recommended but as Aaron states some do run 15 inch.
I think what confused thing is Kevin ref to tyre sizes on my Crendon.

it was indeed.... two cobras: does your wife drive the other one?
Kevin,
One for touring( Dax 22mpg more relaxed ) and the Crendon for local shows (12-15mpg last outing with first drive out 5mpg!) until I get some miles on it. I did 500 miles this year. They are total different drives and ride. Dax under slung and Crendon is a shaker with side pipes. Must be the loudest car in the club!
Having owned the Dax for 26 years and has historical status its hard to decide to sell.

I have the standard IRS chassis from 1993.
@all: thanks for all the information, i'll tink i stick to the 255/60 and 235/60 size.
