Title: LED Headlight bulbs
Post by: GazRichards on Oct 05, 2023, 01:36 PM
Hi All - I've applied for my IVA, just awaiting my date, but.... my headlights are not as bright as I'd like. Am I right in thinking that LED bulbs will NOT pass IVA?
Thanks in advance for any advice

cheers

Gary

Leave them alone till after IVA   and then no problem ..

LED bulbs in a light unit not designed for them (ie fitting LEDs instead of a halogen H4 bulb without changing the whole unit) won't pass the IVA and shouldn't pass an MoT either. However I know of these getting through an MoT for some!

If you do fit led bulbs make sure you inform your insurance company of the modification!

Get your IVA then get yourself some LED's from Classiccarleds.co.uk  You won't regret it. I have them in both my Cobra and the GT40. They are top notch and will fly though an MOT because they are so bloody good!
I'm not on a bonus nor are they relations! I do appreciate a good product though!

More modern LED H4 etc replacements will pass MOT in a round halogen housing on beam pattern fine these days.

Only issue is regarding the lack of headlight washers but as with MOT rules, if it's not there then it can't be tested!
