Has anyone made and fitted an undertray in front of and/or under the engine of their cobra?
Maybe it's just idle curiosity, but I was wondering if anyone had tried it or has any feedback on the idea. I had wondered if an undertray would help with the aerodynamics at the front of a cobra, without changing the look. From reading around the idea, maybe it could help reduce lift at the front, but it is also capable of increasing lift, especially if there is no splitter in front. Other potential downsides might be reduced engine cooling, but equally it could improve cooling if air is forced over the engine more. It sounds like a tricky subject, so wondered if there was some practical experience out there, or if I should just give it a go and see if I can measure what happens in some way.

I blanked the underneath on my Sumo between the front grill and the front of the engine. That helped a lot with cooling the radiator (due to the positioning of the rad in a Sumo). Not taken it any further back though so sorry I can't comment on a full undertray - though that does sound like an interesting idea to try to me
That is quite interesting, because if I recall correctly the radiator is in the opening in a Sumo so there is no gap in front. So it sounds like adding an undertray behind the radiator and up to the engine helped the air flow through the radiator better. That is a worthwhile improvement!
In some ways a GD isn't so different in this area, so I will at least add an undertray behind the rad and up to the engine, which is the easiest part to do. I don't get much time to work on the car, so it is something I will add over the winter.
Rather than attaching directly to the chassis, which will involve drilling holes into it, I have a plan to use p-clips around the chassis with coupling nuts to offset the undertray lower than the chassis so it lines up with the bottom of the radiator. Whatever I play with here will be easily removable.
Initially I zip-tied mine until I was happy then I fitted screws to it
