Title: Gas Ram bonnet and boot required NM pressure.
Post by: JON1D on Sep 08, 2023, 06:51 PM
Can anyone recall the boot and bonnet Gas ram required pressure in Newtons ?

Something like 40n for the boot ( 80n total = 8kg weight) and bonnet 60 or 80 newtons ( 120n-160n = 12-16kg ) was the figure? I have never weighed the boot or bonnet on my Dax.

It was discussed at length in the old forum and I have since fitted adjustable ones from SGS.

Sounds like you're over-thinking it.  You fit one ram, de-pressurise until it can only just hold the panel up. Remove it and fit the other one - do the same again.  Then fit them both and you're done.  No need to fart about with weight/Newtons - that's all dependent on geometry anyway.

Bannon,

Its a colleague who does not have adjustable pressures and need them re-gassing. So needs to know what to get them re-gassed to. I am sure they use to have the pressure marked on the Eckold gas struts.

SGS engineering offer servicing and re gassing.
I Just put a new pair on my AK boot,  just slacken the gas grub screw a bit at a time, on one strut at a time, then do the same on the other. No measuring and weighing
