Hi,
This is more an observation and statement than a question.
I've noticed that nearly all Gardner Douglas replicas have rear exit exhausts.
I genuinely thought up until I received their prices/brochure that side pipes weren't even an option!
This has (up to now) stopped me from even looking at them, as I want side pipes on my car.
After looking at the GD427 it's an impressive kit and now a possible contender for me.
Cheers
Mark
GD initially didn't offer an option for side pipes...
They do now i believe, however i feels its begrudgingly through demand of the customer base, but they certainly favour underslung.
I have 5" side pipes and love them.
I love how obnoxious they are, i love the unbalanced sound in each ear, i love burning my calf on the tail piece, i love scorching skin melting headers that appear through the side and melt the soul of anyone who goes near them hot..... i just love them!!
Keep in mind that if your skill set is wide enough and your pockets deep enough, then you can do whatever the heck you like, irrespective of what any manufacturer states. So long as they comply with IVA at the test..... rock on!!
Each to their own but I'm 100% a side pipes man.
When I had the hardtop on my Dax, it used to sound like a Spitfire inside when motorway cruising.
Such a lovely sound.

I have to second that, side pipes are a must in this deaf old gits opinion !
Chris.
I fitted a set of DB replica side pipes to my Mk 4 GD

Initially thought they may be a bit too loud but they're bedding in a bit and quieting down a little now 👍🏻
The DB pipes were a great buy price wise, but certainly a favoured retro fot as they had to get massively restricted i believe to get them IVA friendly in regards to Db levels.
