Title: Dax wiring diagram for headlights
Post by: Rye on Apr 30, 2023, 07:01 PM
Does anyone have a dax de-Dion headligh wiring diagram or know what loom they use. As looking through a Haynes manual for a sierra 87-89 and 90 onwards and non of my loom colours seem to match what the diagram shows.

I've lost the headlights when ignition is on basically, but they do work with ignition off.
Just replaced the column stalk for headlight side as old one was faulty. Same part numbers etc. but now this 🤷🏼 at my last tether with it

My Southern Roadcraft is an early nineties version and the lights do work independently from the
normal ignition fed dip/main .
The main beam works through a rather noisey Hella relay and the column assembly is an early Jag
type with just the indicators and the dip/main working through it .
I do have a wiring diagram if needed it may be similar to the earlier Dax set up but I'm not sure .
Let me know if this would be of any use to you .
Chris.

Managed to trace the fault back to a poor earth connection going onto the chassis. Put in a new piece of cable and found a better connection point and all is good again 👍🏼. Thanks for the help

The early one is not great so will have to scan another one as I think I have a hard copy some where.

I don't suppose you have a massive (well, bigger) version of the 2011 one, do you Jon? Even at full size it's really hard to read :)

And if you have a better quality picture of the pre 2011 wiring one too would be appreciated on email as I believe this may be the wiring on mine 👍🏼

Just looking at the wiring diagrams and the "early" one looks very similar to the diagram that was in the Pilgrim sumo build manual.......  :o

Looking at the wiring it has additional wiring for brake fluid level sensor, radio, hand brake on light, hazard warning , delay wipers which my 93 Dax has none of these luxuries. It was marked up in the old forum for early Dax. Did they use the same loom or very similar ? Its a fairly basic loom in the Dax which I have changed most and added to in the engine bay for additional feeds and uprating the wire gauges as they seemed of for very little current draw. Even using the old ceramic fuses which can cause a source of high resistance when the corrode a bit. I have an old Pilgrim manual which I will dig out.
