Title: Help needed to identify a Ford Brake Master Cylinder & Servo
Post by: nickhudson on Apr 25, 2023, 02:31 PM
Dear all

I am hoping to tap some Ford or Southern Roadcraft V8 knowledge amongst the group...

I have a Southern Roadcraft V8 that has now been running on and off for 25 years. I bought he original kit from the Nichols brothers back in 1994. I wish to rebuild/ replace the Ford brake master cylinder and would like help to identify what part this is. photo attached.

I have contacted Brian Nichols at Roadcraft – he responded "I think it was a Sierra servo and Fiesta master cylinder (could be the other way round). We do not have any records for this as we sold the project about 30 years ago."

A posting on the previous CRC technical forum suggested this was from "an old style Fiesta van"

A tag on the part is showing number "6606 05/45JC"

Can any members shed light on what this part is and where a replacement/ rebuild kit can be sourced?

Many Thanks

Rgds Nick

The brake servo/master cylinder on my old Southern Roadcraft that I fitted as new was from a Fiesta Corrier
van (we called these the postman pat type van).
I can give you the part number in the morning if that's any help.
In my opinion it works well and has no issues at mot time.

They also use one from the old MGB's.

Thanks for the response!

Very keen to know the part number from the Postman Pat van. When was your SRV8 chassis made?

Again - no issues for me, although it would be nicer if the pedal feel was more progressive.

I have also published this question in the SRV8 topic - responses there are of the view that this is a 1980s Ford Sierra 2L part. What do you think?

Here is the Ford part numbers,
94FB-EA and a 74049595 .
This will be good if someone can still X reference it ?
The chassis is a 93/94 model with RPA 6 followed by three more numbers .
Hope this can help .
