In 2018 I painted my lower front wishbones with chassis paint after I'd removed the remaining powder coating and surface rust. 4 years on and some 14,000 miles later they were ready for painting again. Back in the summer I painted them again this time with POR15. It's not a cheap paint it's a high VOC and the fumes are particularly unpleasant! So best applied outside. If I use POR15 again I'll use an air fed mask! POR15 doesn't like exposure to UV light but so far, though it's only been 6 months the wishbones are still nice and shiny so maybe the POR15 will fare better than the chassis paint?

I've got several different brackets which are rusty and the powder coating is lifting in places. I guess for 28 years old they've not fared to badly. Now I have the time and a few months with the car off the road for the winter I wonder if it would be better having the brackets sandblasted and powder coated or paint them with POR15?

Never used personally but I do remember it getting mixed reviews on the old forum.
I used POR15 on a diff. Do not shake the can. You read the instructions and its nasty stuff so PPE of vapour mask and gloves. The finish product as you say is not UV light stable but they do a top coat to cover . I think you can use normal paint as well as a top coat. The finish is smooth and very hard if you follow all the prep stages in a kit with flashing off of the undercoat. It seems durable but notice some rust after two years old. I had removed most of the rust and the diff is cast iron. I have seen some back to back testing on sheet metal and some other products seem to stand up better.
Steps take some time when followed.
1. POR15 Degreasing 4 to one mix with hot water. Wert 15 mins Rinse off with water. Dry
2. POR15 Metal prep spray and keep wet 15 mins .
3. Two coats of finish coat ( Stir but do not shake.). 1 hour between coats. The top goes on thin and a small can covers a large area.
4. When dry a apply a premier top coat then top coat.
Would I use it again? I have a question on its durability so would look for a simpler process.
