Title: Oil pressure sender
Post by: methoni on Jul 04, 2026, 08:40 PM
My oil gauge is not working i suspect its the sender ,just wondering if its possible to test it , presumably with a little pressure applied to the sender it should complete the circuit ie on spade connection

The basic test you can perform is to pull off the connector and ground it to earth that being for -ive or + ive
systems .
This would be the same for temperature and fuel gauges , what should happen is that you will get full swing
on any gauge that you are checking, this proves everything but the sender units, ignition needs to be in the on
position.
Hope this gives you a heads up on things .

Thanks Chris I will give that a try, I did a simple pressure test on the sender with a pump and test probe and it did light the probe so it may well be the gauge or connecting wires which are at fault.
