Hi. I have the above combination using AK's conversion kit which comprised of an adaptor plate and modified clutch release bearing. However the clutch is extremely heavy, particularly once driven for an hour or so, when it becomes very notchy/ratchety. There is also a very annoying rattly squeak coming from the clutch mechanism area which disappears when the clutch pedal is depressed.
So a few questions from this lot before I commit to removing the gearbox. Has anyone come across similar problems? Is there a hydraulic throw out bearing that anyone has used that works in this set up? And the rattly squeak was there when I had the old antiquated Saginaw box fitted but I thought the gearbox swap would have sorted that out. So I'm guessing it must be something to do with the release mechanism as I am still using the same bellhousing. The clutch release bearing is modified with a sleeve to reduce the internal diameter to fit the gearbox input shaft. I'm guessing that if that has come away that would explain the notchy move,emt of the clutch?
My plan is to have a load of spares ready to swap out when I remove the gearbox.
If I can sort out the notchy part then I want to investigate using a servo assist, but this is a little alien to me.
Any help or advice would be gratefully received as the car is no longer a joy to drive and hill starts are getting interesting!
Incidentally the slave cylinder is the large bore black component that's rather expensive which comes with its own mounting bracket. The manufacturer escapes me but I'll try to find out what it is and add it to this post as a PS.

I have the same setup on my AK. I had heat soak problems which caused a ratchety gearchange.
When was the clutch fluid last changed/bled. You don't need to lose much fork travel to get a dodgy gearchange.
Also if your going to drop the gearbox don't forget to stick a new pilot bearing in.
If I remember rightly it came with the AK adapter kit but its a cheap of the shelf part.
Also was the bell housing dialled in correctly?
As for throw out bearings talk to real steel as they know this set up and should be able to advise.
When the gearbox went in the pilot bearing was replaced as well as the clutch release bearing.
Also the master cylinder has been replaced recently and the fluid is next to new.
The ratchets feeling feels mechanical. I'm going to look at disassembling the clutch pedal mechanism to see if anything within the pivot has picked up.
I'm also going to fit a remote servo with a vacuum reservoir which will help with things.
Going to explore all possibilities without removing the gearbox again as that is a real pain in the arse!
