Title: Replacement Avon tyres
Post by: Ldw on Apr 16, 2025, 09:03 PM
Time can come to replace all four tyres.
Currently have Avon CR6-ZZ tyres which are great but very expensive.

225/65 r15 front £506.40 each.
295/50 r15 rear. £628.80 each.
Total £2,270.40 plus postage and fitting. Ouch!

Anyone used alternatives and what was you experience. The avons have lasted well and gave excellent performance and if I spread the cost over 8 years they have lasted it is ok but others such as galaxies are half the price.

Your collective knowledge and wisdom is welcome.

Thanks
Lee

Have you tried camskill?

They have other options for your rears but not exact match sizing for the fronts

Seem to have 60's or 70's but not 65's

The fronts are becoming rare.

If you go with Galaxies you will not fine those tyre sizes. I replaced my aging BF Goodrich T/A with Galaxies and it was like night and day. Totally different ride and the wet grip so much better with the Galaxies. Fitted 2018 and three Lemans trips, I can highly recommend them.
I run 215/60 15 fronts and 235/60 15 rears. I could of gone with 245/60 15 which would of fitted on my Dax.
The face are more vertical similar to the AVON tyres.

I can also recommend Galaxies if you can work around your requirements .
My combo is 215/60 15" fronts and 245/60 15" rears, would have used 225's front but they were not
available at the time.
To my knowledge I haven't come across any negatives for these tyres .

Another +1 for Galaxies.
I am running 225/60s front and 255/60s rear.

If I was replacing them I'd go for 275s on the rear, but that might give me some rubbing clearance issues (on a Crendon).
